Living Breakthrough Minded

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"For You, O Lord, are my Lamp; the Lord lightens my darkness"
(II Samuel 22:29, AMP)

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria
I’ve learned when things are difficult and don’t look like they are going our way, that’s when it’s the easiest to lose our joy, vision, and enthusiasm; to believe that things will never get any better. But during those challenging seasons in life, we have to learn to do just the opposite. Right in the midst of the adversity, that’s the time–more than ever–to expect a flood of His favor; a flood of healing, a flood of vindication, a flood of protection. Our attitude should be, “It may be dark, but I know the God of the breakthrough is about to turn things around!” “My child may be off course, but I know the God of the breakthrough is about to bring him back.” “Business may be slow, but I’m expecting the God of the breakthrough to release a flood of His favor, a flood of new clients, a flood of new sales, a flood of promotion.”
Remember, you are in prime position to see the light come bursting in. You’re in prime position for God to give you something to talk about. Keep living breakthrough–minded because He has victory in store for you today!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, thank You for the victory that You have in store for me. I put my trust in You and choose to live breakthrough–minded. Help me to guard my words and guard my heart so I can stay positioned for everything You have in store for me. Amen.

God's word through His people

Leaving a spiritual inheritance by Judith Spence
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2 v 26

The above scripture leaves us in no doubt that faith and works have to go hand in hand. Without faith works are fruitless. Without works faith is invisible.
Numerous scriptures say that Abraham’s faith was credited to him as righteousness. Most of us know what his exploits in faith were – he left his family behind to travel to a country he didn’t know, he believed that God would supply a sacrifice for his offering, he believed that when God said he was to father a nation he would despite his advanced age, etc. But if Abraham had only believed in his heart and not acted on what he heard no-one would be any the wiser.
Our responsibility is to act on what we believe God has said to us. The outcome of it is God’s responsibility – whether the action is a success or not is never the issue to God, He wants to see us responding in faith and obedience to what He says (e.g. 1 Samuel 15 v 22 & Jonah).
All steps of obedience leave an inheritance. Inheritances can be big or small, a few words or a multimillion pound business – they leave a memory of the person or, in this case, the deed. This week we have been looking at Jabez, so what inheritance did he leave? Not only was there a city called Jabez – historians think it was named after him – but he left the wonderful encouragement of the 2 verses with his background and the words of his prayer; here is a man mentioned nowhere else in scripture but whose legacy has spanned time.
Contrary to a natural inheritance that is only made available after death, our spiritual inheritance is made available to all immediately. The legacy you leave could be leading one person to faith in the Lord, but who knows what that one person will do? You may leave a church, a project, a book, a song or poem, you may have encouraged someone and so prevented them form taking their own life – the possibilities are almost endless. Take a step of obedience today and leave another inheritance.
Prayer:
Lord I want to leave a spiritual inheritance for others to benefit from. I choose to obey and do what You ask me to do, knowing that the outcome is Your responsibility and not mine. Thank You for being our wonderful Father. Amen
