When You Pray

Today's Scripture

"And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you…" (Mark 11:25 AMP).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Everyone has been hurt, offended, betrayed, and mistreated at some point. Sometimes those wounds are small and easy to move past, but other times they are deep and take time to heal. The important thing is that we choose to forgive so that we can open the door to God's forgiveness in our own lives.

Forgiveness is such a powerful tool. Forgiveness sets you free and draws you closer to your Heavenly Father. One of the first things my mother did when she found out she had stage four cancer of the liver was to ask the Lord to search her heart for any unforgiveness. She didn't want anything to block her prayers for God's healing. And now more than twenty years later, she still has a perfectly clean bill of health!

Whenever you pray, invite the Lord to search you heart. Choose to forgive anyone that has hurt you. As you walk in forgiveness, you'll experience His hand of blessing in ways you never thought possible and you will move forward in the abundant life He has in store for you.

A Prayer for Today

Father in Heaven, I invite you to search my heart and mind. I choose forgiveness so that I can receive your forgiveness in return. I love You and bless You today. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Daily Word —October 6-7, 2008

Expect Good

I recognize and accept my blessings.
I embrace each new day, knowing that my thoughts and actions help create my reality. As I go through life expecting good, I recognize it and accept it in all the wonderfully diverse ways it comes to me.
I begin my day by expressing gratitude to God for the warmth of the sunshine, the splendor of the changing colors of the trees, the laughter and excitement of children scampering off to school or play.
On this day and always, I expect and see the good in everyone I meet. I affirm the best possible outcome in each circumstance, knowing that divine order is always actively at work in my life and in the lives of those I love and cherish.
According to a divine plan, the universe responds in kind to my expectations of good.

"O Lord God, you are God, and your words are true, and you have promised this good thing to your servant."--2 Samuel 7:28

Prayer for forgiveness

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus,

I ask Your forgiveness and repent dear Lord for ( state the wrong doing or sin ). I have purposed in my heart to actively fight temptation using Your Word so that I do not continue to sin. Father, I know that sin separates us (Romans 3:23) and I want to be close to You. I want to be a man (or woman) after Your own heart like King David was (Acts 13:22).

Lord Your Word says that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Help me to better understand the seriousness of sin, and help me to have a pure heart with pure motives. I thank you Father for sending Christ to die for all of my sins, however though His blood has cleansed me from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:7), let me not use this as a deceptive excuse to keep on sinning.

I want to show You how much I love You! I want to love You with the love that Jesus spoke of saying: "If you love Me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15) Help me keep Your commandments Lord, and help me to see the way of escape more clearly when temptation is near, for Your Word says that You will provide a way out for me. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

Strengthen me Oh God, so that I may keep Your laws and statutes written on my heart. Help me to read Your Word and rely upon Your Word regularly, because it is Your Word that keeps me from sin.

Finally Lord, today I forgive anyone who has offended me in the past. Any wrong doings against me, both great and small, I now forgive this day. I recognize that if I do not forgive others, then neither will You forgive me (Mark 11:25,26). I thank You for Your mercy and I thank You for Your grace Lord.

In the mighty name of Jesus I pray and declare these things,

Amen.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

If you believe that the Bible offers truth about the way to salvation, but you have not made the decision yet to become a Christian, it's as simple as praying this prayer. You can pray by yourself, using your own words. There is no special formula. Just pray from your heart to God, and He will save you. If you feel lost and just don't know what to pray, here's a prayer of salvation that you can pray:

Dear Lord,

I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don't please you. I have lived my life for myself. I am sorry and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life, I give it to you. Help me to live every day in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.

Amen
