 The God of Comfort

Today's Scripture

"As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you…" (Isaiah 66:13 NIV).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Often times, when people face challenges, they seek comfort in things that are familiar. It may be work, or an activity, or relationships; and of course, we all know about "comfort food." But those things only bring temporary comfort. True comfort is found in a personal relationship with God in heaven through His Son, Jesus.

According to Webster's dictionary, comfort means: to give strength and hope; to ease grief or trouble. No matter what difficulty you may be facing today, God wants to bring you comfort. Like a mother cares for her child, He longs to give you strength, hope, and confidence. Make the decision to put Him first in every area of your life.

Let go of those things you know are holding you back. Let Him be Lord over all! As you surrender to His grace, you will be filled with His peace and joy. You'll be empowered to overcome every obstacle, and you will live in victory all the days of your life.

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, I come to You today and invite You to fill my whole being. Give me Your comfort and strength and empower me by Your Holy Spirit to live in the victory You have planned for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Divine love comforts me and inspires me to be a compassionate friend to everyone.

Daily Word —October 11-12, 2008

Pray for Others

God is the answer and the fulfillment of every need.
For my family, my friends, and anyone who comes to mind and heart, I set aside these moments to pray. Some of these people may be facing challenges and others celebrating joyous occasions. My prayers reach out to enfold and uplift them all.
As I bless others, I am blessed as well, because we are interconnected, one in Spirit. I release any concerns and thank God for all that is good and true. I stand firm in my faith that God is the answer and the fulfillment of every need. The life of God is our health and strength. God's love is our comfort and hope. Divine wisdom is our unfailing guide.
In the oneness of prayer, I am at peace concerning myself and those I love. I speak words of truth and know that God is with us and all is well.

"I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you."--Philippians 1:3-4

Prayer of the day

Give Us, O Lord, a Steadfast Heart

Give us, O Lord, a steadfast heart,
Which no unworthy affection may drag downwards;
Give us an unconquered heart,
Which no tribulation can wear out;
Give us an upright heart,
Which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside.
Bestow upon us also, O Lord our God,
Understanding to know you,
Diligence to seek you, wisdom to find you,
And a faithfulness that may finally embrace you;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord

Amen.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

If you believe that the Bible offers truth about the way to salvation, but you have not made the decision yet to become a Christian, it's as simple as praying this prayer. You can pray by yourself, using your own words. There is no special formula. Just pray from your heart to God, and He will save you. If you feel lost and just don't know what to pray, here's a prayer of salvation that you can pray:

Dear Lord,

I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don't please you. I have lived my life for myself. I am sorry and I repent. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life, I give it to you. Help me to live every day in a way that pleases you. I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.

Amen
